Post-doctoral Researcher Position at University of Southern California
The Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering at University of Southern California invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher under the direction of Prof. Jayakanth Ravichandran (http://alchemy.usc.edu). Successful candidate will participate in a multi-university project supported by Army Research Office studying emerging chalcogenide materials.
The candidates should have a PhD degree (or completing in the near future) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or related Engineering disciplines. Ideal applicants will exhibit intellectual independence, motivation and drive, and willingness to mentor junior group members. Candidates with complementary expertise to synthesis, characterization and physical properties of ionic materials such as oxides and chalcogenides with two or more skill sets noted below are particularly encouraged to apply:
a) Single crystal growth
b) Epitaxial thin film growth (Pulsed laser deposition, Molecular beam epitaxy)
c) Advanced X-ray, electron and/or neutron based characterization
d) Electron transport and microfabrication
e) Optical spectroscopy
The duration of the position is expected to be one year and may be renewable based on performance and availability of funding.
The desired start date is August 15, 2021 but can be negotiated.
